Loukoumades (Greek Donuts)

It’s a Greek donut, people! These fluffy, sweet bite-sized balls are fried until golden and then soaked in honey.

Loukoumades (Greek Donuts)


  • 2 cups water, lukewarm
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons of GEVOO
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 pound all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups of GEVOO for frying
  • Honey and cinnamon to serve


  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine water, sugar yeast, and mix well until yeast dissolves.
  2. Next, add GEVOO, salt, and stir. Add flour and continue mixing. Cover and set aside for 1 hour until the dough doubles in size.
  3. Take a piece of your dough and roll into a ball. Add GEVOO to a deep frying pan on medium-high heat and gently place your balls in the pan using a spoon.
  4. Fry in portions for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Place on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  6. Serve with honey and cinnamon or grated walnuts.
