Orange Koulourakia

A sweet, tangy twist on the original Greek cookie.

Orange Koulourakia


  • 2lb. 7oz. flour
  • 3 cups Fancy Peasant GEVOO
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 cups organic sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons red wine (optional)

To Top:

  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons mineral water
  • 3 tablespoons sesame


  1. Preheat oven to 340°F
  2. Sift flour together with baking powder and cinnamon.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, add GEVOO, sugar, and mix well. Gradually begin to add the flour and knead (dough should be soft, not sticky)
  4. Combine baking soda and orange juice, stir well until froth occurs. Pour to mixture.
  5. Add almond milk (red wine optional)
  6. Shape cookies into whatever shape you fancy
  7. Place shaped cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Brush each cookie with the egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon of water). Sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
